Dot painting

Dot painting is an extremely fun, beautiful and mediative technique! Most often you do a form of dot mandala painting with repetitive patterns. But you can also go freehand and create your own fun patterns.

In our range you will mainly find products that are used in dot mandala painting. We have:

  • Ready-made kits - these contain everything and a little more to create beautiful works. Mdf boards that form the basis for painting. They are first primed and then you use a stencil to sketch out the motif. The tools used are so-called dotting tools, which are acrylic sticks and smaller sticks. Ready-mixed colors are included in small cups.

  • We also sell MDF boards by the piece, in different formats and designs. There are also MDF boards that also have stencils included.

  • Dotting tools are packages of tools that really make painting easier. These include acrylic sticks in different thicknesses and sticks with a metal tip with a ball at the top.

  • The acrylic sticks should be dipped in paint each time after a dot, the dots will then be the same size throughout. The sticks with a metal tip with a ball at the top are used for smaller dots. You also dip these in paint each time if you want the dots to be the same size.

  • You can also get a so-called "walking dots" or "walk the dot", dip the sticks with the metal tip once and do several after that, they will get smaller and smaller. Also used for swooshes, when dots are pulled out.

  • Colors that are generally used are acrylic colors. However, these usually have to be thinned with a pouring medium or water. In our range we recommend that you take a look at the small tubes of Amsterdam acrylic colors, lots of nice colors .

  • We have refill cups that are perfect for diluting colors. 6 small jars that you fill with different colors and dilute a little. If you use Amsterdam acrylic paints, we recommend diluting with Amsterdam Pouring medium .

I hope you became a little wiser about what is used for what and why!
