Fix gifts with decoupage - no hassle, just fun
This is actually the easiest gift idea in the world, but for some reason people think decoupage is advanced. It's not. It's glue. Period.
All you need is:
- Something to glue on.
- Something to glue there.
- Varnish/glue.
- Content.
Step 1 - Find something to decorate
You don't have to buy new. Go to a flea market, a storage unit, or your own overflowing kitchen shelf. This works perfectly:
- Glass or porcelain bowls
- Old pots
- Washers
- Cans
- Candle lanterns
Does it have a surface? Then it works. And no, it doesn't have to be pretty to begin with. It usually doesn't matter.
Step 2 - Do
The reason we're even talking about this is that we've been really into decoupage ourselves. Rice paper is thin sheets with ready-made motifs, it works perfectly because it melts into the surface when you varnish it. You'll be in a delirium of all the wonderful motifs there are. Simply crazy fun and it looks so pretty.
- Clean what you are going to decorate.
- Tear off the edges of the rice paper (To get neat edges, preferably take a wet brush with water around the area to be used. Tear off the wet part)
- Glue the surface with decoupage glue.
- Put your rice paper on. Apply glue.
Step 3 - Fill
Fill! With homemade Christmas candy, cookies, Christmas groups with flowers, feel good with beauty products, bath fun, cheeses. Think about what the recipient likes. That's the key, it doesn't have to be fancy. Tea, soaps, chocolate. Don't make things complicated. It doesn't have to be expensive. This is about the thought.
Why not just buy a gift basket?
You might be wondering now why not just buy a gift basket, Christmas group or tray. It's not about buying a lot of things. It's about a little soul and heart (as usual). A pot, vase, tray like this, it simply becomes a little extra fun when there is a homemade fix behind it. A thought behind the contents, not just snatched on the fly at a supermarket.
Here you will find everything in decoupage . Use the filter on motifs and you will find lots of different styles. Good luck with the fix, I promise, you will have a lot of fun!
