Series - Rose Chronicles from Paperblanks . The motif originates in Paris. The design behind the Rose Chronicles comes from a French bookbound volume made by the Salel bookbinders in Paris. During this time, the city was a center for printing and bookbinding, strongly influenced by the gold-embossing technique that had reached France from the Islamic world. The pattern of winding arabesques and dots is an early example of French Renaissance decoration. The original volume is titled Chroniques.
